Your Spouse: A Franchise Business Partner for Success

How to Have a Strong Support System at Home or on the Road.

Matco Tools FranchiseeStarting a franchise is a big decision that not only affects you but your family as well. It’s necessary that both you and your spouse are on the same page when it comes to starting a franchise. At Matco Tools, we involve your spouse from the very first day. From attending training sessions at our headquarters in Stow, OH to helping stock your store every night, your spouse can be involved every step of the way.

Whether your spouse wants to be on the truck with you going from shop-to-shop or behind the scenes handling the finances, your better half can become the other half of your business.

So how can your spouse participate in your Matco experience? He/she can assume many different roles.

1.) The Emotional Supporter – Having someone at home who has a positive attitude and provides emotional support is just as helpful as having a daily partner on-board the truck. Knowing that your family believes in you and this journey makes the tough days easier. Your team of motivators helps keep you focused on doing your best every day.

2.) The Promoter – Having your spouse be your store promoter is a fun way to get people on the truck! Matco will provide you with promotional flyers, but finding creative ways to get technicians out to the truck doesn’t hurt. Some spouses bake treats while others run fun contests on their truck and business Facebook page. No one can turn down free cookies or prizes!

3.) The Book Keeper – Some spouses prefer to stay behind the scenes instead of being face-to-face with customers. As a Matco Tools franchisee, you’re responsible for making your sales, keeping your inventory stocked and up-to-date, maintaining customer relationships, growing your business and taking care of your finances. Although Matco provides you with the tools and software to make this an easy process, this task still takes time.

Your spouse can keep the finances organized while you focus time on the other business duties at hand.

4.) The Facility Manager – There are many daily tasks to accomplish, so you may need some extra help. Your spouse can assist in keeping track of inventory and ordering new products. They can also help you tidy the truck and keep it in tip top shape. Your customers are likely to buy from a store that is organized, because they can easily see all of your products.

5.) The Sales Team – Some spouses want to hit the road with you and help sell tools! Having a partner that rides along with you in the truck and hands out the promotional flyers at the shops is a great help. Whatever he/she chooses to do, your spouse can be your best business tool on your route.

Ready to Get Behind the Wheel?

Whether your spouse decides to be involved on your daily route or prefers to help at home, it’s important that they’re informed and involved. Being on Team Matco means getting to spend time with your family and involve them in your day-to-day activities.
